Vital Records
The Town Clerk’s Office is responsible for recording and preservation of vital records such as births, marriages, and deaths.
We are utilizing the Electronic Death Registration System (EDRS), Electronic Birth Registration System (EBRS), and the Electronic Marriage Registration System (EMRS) through the State. These systems store all vital records electronically and have eliminated much of the need to store paper copies of such records in our town vault. We offer an online ordering method through the State of Maine's online Maine Municipal Vital Record Request Service.
Certified copies of these records can be obtained at the Town Clerk’s Office in accordance with the State of Maine Office of Vital Records. The first certified copy is $15 and $6 for any additional copies of the same record ordered at the same time. To purchase certified copies, you must complete a Vital Records Request Form and bring your completed form, proper identification, and, if needed, proof of lineage to the Town Office. We can also process orders through the mail, the procedure is the same as above. We accept all forms of payment, however, there is a 2.5% convenience fee added to use a debit / credit card.
