Damariscotta's Historic Cemeteries

Contribute

Here are some of the ways you can contribute to restoring and maintaining Damariscotta's historic cemeteries:

  • Donate funds
  • Lend your equipment for volunteers to use
  • Volunteer your time
  • Organize a workgroup
  • Adopt a cemetery: Individuals, families, neighbors, descendants, churches, businesses, civic clubs, and other organizations may adopt a cemetery. Adoption includes:
    • Active participation April through November
    • Spring and fall clean-ups
    • Mowing and trimming every 4 to 6 weeks, May through September
    • Notifying the Historical Society of broken stones, trees or large limbs down - anything requiring more than routine grounds maintenance
    • A 1-year commitment, which may be extended for additional years
